The managerial sciences give growing evidence of their significance to solving problems that go beyond the traditional scope of business studies. To take up the opportunities linked to its horizontality, however, management needs to be based on a well-grounded, inter-disciplinary body of knowledge. The “Systems Management” Book Series aims advance knowledge in a context of growing complexity in which managers and policy makers are expected to be able to face the challenges of profitable organizations in a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive world. The systems approach can offer an incomparable contribution to this aim providing a unitary and coherent body of ‘horizontal’ knowledge rooted in systems thinking. By adopting a ‘T-shaped’ scheme, the Series’ purpose is to spread the managerial approach across a variety of problematic contexts. To this end, the “Systems Management” Book Series collects new research-level academic books like monographs, textbooks and contributed volumes that are the outcomes of original studies and impactful researches conducted by scholars and experts in various managerial areas by adopting a systems approach. In order to make knowledge accessible and useful for research, teaching and management purposes, the “Systems Management” Book Series welcome contributions that are scientifically well-argued, rigorous, and equipped with practical examples and case studies. Coherent combinations of theoretical and conceptual perspectives, on the one hand, practical examples, case studies and empirical research evidences that deal with complex management issues hard to face with the traditional toolbox, on the other hand, represent the ideal contributions to the Book Series.
